AICC president Sonia Gandhi appointed Rajender Reddy, who was in-charge of the Warangal constituency election in 1999, as the president of the joint Warangal District Congress in 2014 and 2016. In 2018, Rahul Gandhi appointed as president of Hanumakonda and Warangal districts. He won the Warangal West Constituency ticket by holding party positions and showing loyalty to the party leadership by organizing programs given by the party.
